The GUDA DRUM Double is the next generation of instruments in the GUDA 2.0 product line.
How is this model different from other GUDA instruments? It is a quintessential mix of some of the best features of GUDA DRUM percussion hand instruments available today.
The GUDA DRUM Double is a top-of-the-line tongue drum. It consists of two 0.59"(1.5mm) thick stainless-steel hemispheres with a diameter of 20"(51cm) that are joined together using specialist technologies. Each hemisphere has nine notes. This model represents the symbiotic combination of the best features of the two previous series – GUDA Neo and GUDA 2.0 Plus.
The unique sound of the GUDA DRUM Double is fundamentally different from other percussion tongue instruments in the series. In the Neo and 2.0 models , the two halves of the instrument are clearly separated between the striking portion with petals and the resonating portion without petals. Sound waves from the petals are augmented by the resonator, producing a full and powerful sound, but the resonator does little to influence tonal diversity. In the GUDA Double model, each side is used for both resonating and striking. The sound waves created by a petal’s vibration pass through the instrument’s air cavity and bounce off petals on the resonating side, causing them to resonate and vibrate as well. This creates new sound waves which, in turn, travel back to the striking side of the instrument, but with decreasing power and volume. The process is repeated many times, causing the notes and overtones on the striking and resonating sides of the steel tongue instrument to intersect and interact. The resulting natural acoustic vibrato fascinates and amazes people by making the GUDA Double sound as if it were connected to an effects unit. The sound of the drum is extraordinarily clear and rich, and its notes have a dry, ceramic quality, without metallic impurities or inharmonic overtones.
But the advantages of this model do not end there. By purchasing the GUDA DRUM Double steel tongue drum, you essentially get two percussion instruments for the price of one. Each side of the instrument is available in several color designs with various types of ornaments, and there is a wide selection of ethno-cultural designs and meditative symbols in our catalogue. Customers who want to put their own stamp on the drum can order a custom instrument with a unique design. All designs are hand-engraved on the drum, and this means that each instrument is unique. You can be sure that no two identical GUDA instruments exist anywhere in the world.
Texture options can be selected individually for each side of the instrument. The color texture options for each side include Gold, Dark Brown, Black Shagreen, Brown Satin, or Midnight Blue.
GUDA Double model has the widest tonal range. Customers may choose from 20 standard scales for each side of the instrument.
Anyone can enjoy playing this tongue instrument, without exception. Its scales are primarily pentatonic or blues scale, making it simple and easy to play without musical experience. Any combination of notes can come together to form simple melodies.
This model will also be of interest to professional musicians, who can select the FX option to connect the percussion instrument to external amplification systems, or effects processors, as well as other devices to amplify, process or record (a mixing console, computer, amplifier etc.). This makes the drum easier for musicians to use both on stage and in the studio.
The GUDA Drum Double model is sure to satisfy the most sophisticated music lovers and professional musicians.
